About XOCHIQUETZAL

A Literal Dream Come True

My name is Liz, and I’d like to welcome to Casa Xochiquetzal. In Aztec mythology, Xochiquetzal is the goddess of beauty, sexual
love, household arts, creation and healing, who is also associated with flowers and plants. In the ancient Nahautl language, her
name is pronounced cho-chee-KET-zahl. “Xochi” is the Nahuatl word for flower and “quetzal” refers to a species of brightly
colored birds, which were sacred to the ancient Mayans and Aztecs.

Casa Xochiquetzal is a place to reconnect with your heart and intuition, to nurture body and soul, to feel at peace with yourself and nature. It’s also a place to explore, experience new adventures, and meet warm, creative, beautiful people. Most importantly, Casa Xochiquetzal is a place to dream. In the Mayan and Aztec religion, dreams are sacred. They are a portal to connect with ancestral guides; they can reveal one’s destiny.

I am an artist, pilates instructor, meditation teacher and yogi, and was a regular visitor to San Agustinillo. In 2020, I had a dream to build
a sacred space to reconnect with nature and my roots in Oaxaca. The stars quickly aligned, and I met wonderful people who
helped me manifest my dream. Over seven months, the house was constructed amid laughter and festive music, using authentic
craftsmanship, natural local materials, sustainable practices, and Mayan and Aztec-inspired architectural details. We created
talismans for protection, and performed traditional ceremonies asking mother earth to infuse powerful energy for healing and
transformation into every room in the house. The house is full of special, creative details, from the hydromassage jacuzzi to a
custom stone barbecue to a mobile geodesic dome with a professional telescope, to create a sacred space for star-watching and
connecting with the heavens.

Casa Xochiquetzal is ideal for individuals, couples and families, and is the perfect space for groups looking to host retreats,
workshops or classes. The surrounding area provides lots of opportunities for day trips and eco adventures. Take surfing lessons,
watch nesting sea turtles, journey into the bioluminescent Manialtepec lagoons, or experience a Temazcal sweat lodge ritual.
